It’s a subject(s) getting a lot of air time currently – and rightly so. Mental health and well being are relatively new phrases as mostly the issues weren’t talked about in the past. But in recent years it’s become ever more important to discuss, chat, open up and debate mental health and its associated topics. The big mental health story of late is American superstar gymnast Simone Biles and her very public battle with mental health issues during the Tokyo Olympics. Shining a light on her situation Simone was highly praised for taking the approach she did and putting her personal position above obtaining gold medals. Not everyone is in the same position, granted, but each of us has their own struggles to contend with – some more serious than others. We don’t claim to have the answers when it comes to mental health but we do want to do our bit where and when we can.
Over the course of the last 18 months or so MCConks has published a number of mental health and well being posts to our blog. And actually it stems further back than that. Gathering them together here will make them easier to find and read. Whilst a watersports company we are McConks isn’t shy of wider problems in the world. If we can help shed light and raise further awareness then we shall. And if SUP and watersports at large can help provide that all important headspace then great. Feel free to browse the archive posts below and if there’s anything specific you’d like us to talk about then we’ll try our best.
