It’s coming! You know it is… Winter isn’t too far away. Before long those brown leaves will have been shed, air and water temperatures will have dropped with frosts making themselves known. Although we can’t halt winter there’ll be plenty of warmer days – relative to seasonality – up until Christmas. (All being well). We can still have proper wintry conditions in November but usually, those truly cold snaps don’t kick in until Jan. (Fingers crossed).
From a SUP point of view, winter is a time that experienced and more hardcore paddlers love. Beginners and early intermediates should still find windows of opportunity for a float. But the conditions often favour those with more experience.
For the former demographic winter is prime time for things like swell, if SUP surfing’s your bag, white water river running, for the frothers out there, and the chance to tick off adventure SUP routes that wouldn’t be on your list in summer. With the right equipment and SUP clothing winter can be an amazing time to paddle board.
The McConks range of SUP boards is extensive. We do try and cater for as many tastes and styles as possible. Having worked with industry professionals on some board designs we’re confident McConks gear will deliver the experience you’re after in your chosen environment and SUP discipline. Below you’ll find a bunch of McConks performance SUP boards and their intended use. If you have any questions about any of this gear please get in touch.

Riding waves on a stand up paddle board isn’t as popular as it once was. But there are still a few riders who dabble with a paddle in waves. Riding swell is arguably one of the most fun areas of paddle boarding. And we do have kit that suits the practise down to the ground. Don’t be put off by some of the descriptions as these babies are great in surf if you have prior experience.
