Inversion sunset – post-paddling perfection.

Inversion sunset loveliness. Paddling at any time of year can yield great views and experiences. Here at McConks we’re big fans of sunrise and sunset SUP sessions where the vistas can be awesome. And during the off season – particularly end of autumn and into winter as we are now – can be even better for amazing scenery. The fact is, being aboard a SUP by definition gets you outdoors and experiencing nature. And that’s no bad thing.

Rural paddle spots and inversion sunset goodness.

Recently friends of McConks got to experience an inversion sunset and snap a few pics in the process. With unseasonably high thermometer readings in some parts of the country, the inversion layer phenomena is more likely to occur. Especially in rural outposts where the land dips and troughs.

For those not aware what an inversion layer is here’s the Wikipedia explanation.

From a photography point of view, inversions can make for dramatic snaps. In these accompanying pics you can see it’s just as the sun’s setting, at dusk, with a few friendly sheep in the mix.

As we understand it the air was very still and calm with not much ambient noise or light. Such is being in the countryside, and close to dark, many had gone indoors. As the paddlers were packing up the views took on an eerie ambience with low lying mist drifting between the hills and trees. Pausing for a moment, to take in their surroundings, these riders captured a few photographs to catalogue the moment and remind themselves just how amazing paddle boarding can be.
