McConks SUP youth ambassador stand up paddle boarding initiative.
Stand up paddle boarding means so many different things to so many different people. It could be a way to satisfy your competitive drive and test your SUP racing mettle against other paddlers. SUP may be your answer to cruising along coastlines and discovering tucked away nooks and crannies. For some stand up is a new way to surf waves and ride smaller swells, or bigger offshore bombies. LIkewise, SUP could simply be about spending time with the family and enjoying outdoor life.
Unfortunately stand up paddling equipment isn’t the cheapest of things which is why McConks SUP are launching our youth ambassador SUP programme. Kids are, as with everything, the future. We need new (young) blood coming into the world of stand up paddle boarding to inject new life, push boundaries, move things forward and basically kick the old guard into touch – and in doing so, help SUP to evolve.
The problem of cost remains, however. Some kids – as much as they may want to get involved in stand up paddling – may not have access to the finances needed. The McConks SUP youth ambassador initiative aims to give something back to the grassroots of stand up paddle boarding and gift an opportunity to one lucky individual.
Potential winners are encouraged to upload a 1-minute video bio to either Instagram or TikTok telling the audience about themselves and why they’d love to get involved in stand up. McConks will then shortlist these entries putting the best 5 efforts to a public vote via social media. One lucky individual will then be picked to receive a full McConks SUP package – including board of choice, paddle of choice and accessories.
But it doesn’t just stop there as we appreciate the best way to learn and improve is be coached and mentored. Which is why we’ll also be providing tuition for the individual in question via one of our McConks endorsed SUP schools.
As he/she begins their paddling journey we’ll be following progress closely via a series of vlogs appearing on the McConks SUP website. At the end of the 2020 season we’ll see how the new paddler has got on, what experiences they’ve had and where they plan to go from there.
We’re pretty sure that whoever gets this amazing opportunity will be hooked on SUP for life and who knows where that journey will eventually lead.

Entrants must be 18yrs or under. If a minor then permission from parent/guardian needed. McConks reserves the right to publish all content relating to the competition across the brand’s website and social media channels. Only one entry per individual allowed. No prior stand up paddle board experience needed. A shortlist of entrants will be selected by McConks SUP, whose decision is final. Winner will be chosen via public vote. That decision will also be final. x1 McConks inflatable stand up paddle board, x1 McConks SUP paddle and associated McConks SUP accessories of choice will be awarded to the winner. SUP coaching will also be included, details of which to be discussed with nearest accredited SUP school. In return candidate will be expected to deliver x5 2 minute video log updates of progress. This content to be shared across McConks SUP digital channels.
